Episode 24 -	Yugi's Shadow

It is the night after Tenchi visited Sakuya's apartment. Sakuya, although erased from existence by Yugi, is still alive and well. She is woken by her telephone, but the answer machine picks up. Tenchi is calling, and Sakuya rushes to pick up the 'phone. Tenchi asks her to meet at their regular spot the next day. As she hangs up the 'phone, Sakuya smiles a relieved smile; her life suddenly seems to be getting back to normal. The next day, Sakuya and Tenchi meet up for their date. Sakuya suggests that they go to the beach.

In Okayama, Washu has finally uncovered the connection between Tenchi, the girls, Sakuya and Yugi. She hurries to Tokyo, accompanied by Katsuhito, to let Tenchi know.

On the icy planet above Hotsuma's base, the battle between Ryoko and her erstwhile partner continues. Hotsuma is powerful, but Ryoko is smart enough to avoid his attacks. Ryoko presses him for information on what part he has to play in the plan against Tenchi. Hotsuma ups the ante further by transforming into a horrific demon with glowing red eyes, and attacks Ryoko with even more intensity.

Meanwhile, Yugi orders her servant Matori to bring Sasami to her palace to keep her out of the way. As Yugi considers Sasami her friend, she does not want to see her harmed.

In Tokyo, Sakuya and Tenchi stroll down the deserted beach. Sakuya tells Tenchi that she feels as though she has been alone for a long time, but being with him means she isn't alone, and that although she has no memory of her past, she will always have wonderful memories of her time with Tenchi.

Elsewhere, Mihoshi and Kiyone's shuttle has crashed after being attacked by Tsugaru, and the Galaxy Police duo are in a face-off situation with him. Tsugaru is under orders from Yugi to eliminate them, but they are not ready to give up without a fight. Kiyone opens fire on Tsugaru, but he deflects the shots with ease. Mihoshi tries her luck, but her aim is so poor as to miss him completely. However, her legendary luck comes into play as a stray shot hits the booster of their wrecked shuttle and explodes, catching Tsugaru in the blast.

Meanwhile, in Tokyo, Tenchi arrives back at his apartment, relieved that the day seems to have been relatively uneventful, despite his feeling something major was going to happen. However, the day is not about to disappoint, as he opens the door to find Washu and Katsuhito waiting for him. Washu explains that the key to the mystery of Yugi is the ruins in Okutama, which fell to Earth along with Yugi's suspended animation capsule 3,500 years ago. Yugi's escape from the capsule led to the breaking up of the Masaki family. Washu also has data on the creation of Yugi; she was an experimental mutant created by the Juraian royal family, but ran amok and had to be exiled. Washu also explains why Yugi is interested in Tenchi in particular, and Katsuhito picks up the tale from there. He tells Tenchi that for generations, the Masaki family have been Earth guardians, charged with the duty of protecting the planet from evil forces. The gems, part of the necklace Tenchi inherited from his mother, are a powerful defensive weapon in the hands of members of the Masaki family. As the necklace was split into pieces when Tenchi met the girls, Yugi's plan to split them all up was designed to keep the crystal necklace pieces as far apart as possible to leave Earth defenceless, allowing her to take over. With her mission complete, she is able to bring her domain through into the real world. However, the revelations are not over yet...

At the Masaki home, Matori attacks, on her mission to bring Sasami to Yugi's palace. Ayeka rushes to defend the house, activating a high-powered Juraian shield system. In response, Matori summons an army of demons to attack.

Back in Tokyo, Tenchi has heard the final revelation about Sakuya. Washu has told him that Sakuya is actually Yugi's shadow, and he runs across town to see her. However, time is running out for Sakuya, and Yugi appears in her apartment to delete her remaining physical form. Tenchi arrives too late to save her, and finds only Yugi in the apartment, who disappears with a wicked laugh. Tenchi runs back to his apartment and hears Sakuya's last message on his answer phone. He sinks to his knees in grief, the girl with whom he fell in love gone forever.
