Nobuyuki
is in a panic; his savings have disappeared from their secret hiding
place. Sadly, it too late for him to find them, as the girls have already
bought their train tickets to Tokyo, and enough food to keep them well
fed for the duration of the trip. The girls, with the exception of Ryoko
who is staying behind, can finally pay Tenchi a visit and check up on
him. Ryoko, who says she trusts Tenchi and expects him to have made
new friends in Tokyo, warns Ayeka that he will probably get angry with
her for interfering. Ayeka protests that she isn't going to spy on Tenchi,
rather that she wants to make her feelings clear to him in person.
Meanwhile, in Tokyo,
the festival at Tenchi's school is off to a good start. Tenchi is helping
Sakuya and her friends run the crêpe stand. Tsuchida pays Tenchi
a visit while he is mixing up some batter and reminds him about the
post-festival party, and its superstition that anyone who professes
their love for another during the party is destined to live happily
ever after. While Tenchi is busy, Sakuya's friends suggest that she
ask Tenchi to the party herself.
The girls have arrived
at Tenchi's apartment to find it empty. They don't know about the festival,
so Washu breaks down the door and they decide to wait for him inside.
However, Ryo-ohki spots a flyer for the school carnival, and the girls
head for the school to see if they can find him there. When they
arrive at the festival, they split up to search for Tenchi.
Back
in Okayama, Ryoko is moping about. With everyone gone, there are only
instant noodles to eat, and only Nobuyuki, who is still desperately
searching for his savings, for company. She begins to wish she had joined
the girls in Tokyo.
In Tokyo, Tenchi
is cleaning up ready for the afternoon when he thinks he spots Ayeka.
He chalks this first brief sighting up to his imagination, but his fears
are very quickly confirmed when he hears Sasami calling Ryo-ohki, and
then sees her running after the runaway cabbit. Moments later, the chaos
begins when he hears gunshots. Rushing to the shooting range, he finds
Mihoshi and Kiyone. Mihoshi has been using her Galaxy Police-issue pistol
to shoot the targets (and she still managed to miss). He is demanding
an explanation from them when he hears a commotion coming from the science
labs, and the windows break. The science students have come across Ryo-ohki,
and are trying to catch her as a research specimen of a whole new species!
However, they quickly find out how dangerous a cornered cabbit can be
as the terrified Ryo-ohki transforms into her mechanoid form and wrecks
the room! No sooner has Tenchi arrived at the wrecked science lab when
he hears another explosion at the other end of the school. Ayeka has
been searching for Tenchi in the haunted house (set up in one of the
classrooms) and blew the place apart when she was startled. Elsewhere
in the school, Washu is showing off in front of the electronics club
by upgrading their maze-roaming mouse robot into a gigantic robo-rat,
which goes on a rampage through the school!
While
all this is going on, Sakuya is waiting outside the crêpe stand
for Tenchi to join her. From out of the wreckage of the other stalls,
Washu's rampaging robot thunders towards her. Tenchi rushes to save
her, but luckily, Kiyone's sharp shooting and Ayeka's Jurai shield manage
to stop it in time, although not without wrecking the crêpe stand
first. The carnage finally over, a furious Tenchi tells the girls that
they are nothing but trouble, and that they should all go home. Tearfully,
Ayeka leads the girls away.
That evening, Ryoko
arrives in Tokyo, having flown all the way there. She finds Tenchi's
apartment empty, so goes searching at the school.
Meanwhile,
at the post-festival party, Tenchi and Sakuya are watching the revellers.
Sakuya tells him that, despite the mess-ups, she has enjoyed the festival.
Tenchi still feels cross about the chaos at the festival, but Sakuya
assures him that it wasn't his fault, and that she doesn't blame the
girls either. She tells him that although she doesn't believe in the
old school legend, she feels she would be happy just being with Tenchi
every day. She also feels a little jealous that the girls are obviously
so important to Tenchi, and that she sometimes feels distant from him.
Having unloaded the burden of her feelings on Tenchi, she at once apologizes.
Under the light of the full moon, they kiss. Ryoko appears on the school
roof just in time to see this, and she is devastated. With tears in
her eyes, she vanishes.
Yugi, who is watching
the scene, is pleased; at last, the one element the threatens to break
the Masaki family apart once and for all is in place.
