Sasami is visited by Yugi in her human form in her dreams one night. She asks Sasami to meet her the following night at the lake over the hill, and Sasami agrees. As Yugi leaves the dream and awakens in her crystal palace, she allows herself a moment's gloating; she knows that Tenchi's family is drifting apart, and she intends to do all she can to break them up forever.
That evening, Ryoko is pining after Tenchi when she is visited by Hotsuma. She remembers Hotsuma tried to hurt Tenchi the last time they met, and she attacks him, saying she can never forgive him. However, Hotsuma is easily her equal in combat, and when he calls her "Ryoko the space pirate", she is stunned that he knows her past, and leaves herself unguarded for long enough for Hotsuma to get the upper hand. Rather than hurt Ryoko, he releases her and confesses that he is in love with her, and that he came here to warn her that Tenchi is in trouble.
Back at the house, Ryoko confronts Nobuyuki. She has found out that he was instrumental in reuniting Tenchi and Sakuya. Needless to say, the girls are furious. However, their argument is cut short when the ground begins to shake. Outside, the terrain is ripped up as bright shafts of light and then huge crystals erupt from the ground.
By the lake over the hill, Sasami waits patiently for Yugi to show up. She is about to give up and leave when Yugi, dressed as an ordinary little girl, finally appears before her. Sasami is delighted to be reunited with her new friend, and they play together under the shadow of the holy tree.
Back at the house, Yugi herself appears out of one of the crystals. She introduces herself and claims to be the new ruler of the planet, then launches her attack on them. Unprepared for combat, the girls turn and flee from her violent assault, but Yugi chases them through the forest. Determined not to let some child defeat her, Ryoko tries to counterattack.
By the lake, Sasami and Yugi continue to play. They decide to pick flowers to make necklaces, and as Sasami leads her to a beautiful field of blooms.
The battle with Yugi continues, and Ryoko's attack has been in vain. Yugi stabs her through the neck and she drops to the ground. As Ryoko lies wounded on the ground, the crystal bracelet around her wrist begins to glow. In unison, the other bracelets glow and emit bright beams of light. Ryoko is surrounded by a glowing force field, and the wound closes.
In the field of flowers, Yugi collapses. Sasami rushes to her aid, and she weakly insists that she will be all right. Yugi's powers are weakening.
Back at the battle, Yugi attempts to launch one final attack on Ryoko, but Hotsuma appears and deflects the beam, saving her life. Yugi flees, but promises to return to finish what she started. The crystals disappear, and so too does Hotsuma. Katsuhito knows that they will meet the demonic Yugi again soon.
By the lakeside, Sasami wakes up. Yugi is gone, and Sasami assumes that she simply dreamed about Yugi's visit.
Yugi arrives back in her crystal palace, drained and exhausted from her attack on the Masaki family. She knows that she should not have been so easily defeated, and puts this setback down to her having to split into two, one of her to attack, the other to keep Sasami away from the carnage. However, she is patient, and vows to continue in her efforts to break the Masaki family apart.
