Tenchi
receives a 'phone call one morning from a very upset Sasami. He opens
the inter-dimensional tunnel to let her through, and she explains what
is troubling her. In the previous episode, Sasami and Ryo-ohki were
the only ones to earn any money, and the other girls have been trying
to take it from her. Ryoko needs some change, Ayeka wants to buy make-up
to 'maintain her good looks', Washu needs more equipment for her experiments,
and Mihoshi and Kiyone need to buy back the Galaxy Police equipment
they pawned. Sasami has an idea on how to stop the others from trying
to take her money; she decides to spend it all!
Yugi
is watching Sasami and Tenchi with interest. She summons another of
her servants, the somewhat androgynous Tsugaru, and sends him out into
Tokyo after Sasami.
Sasami and Tenchi
stroll around the shops in Tokyo, looking ways to spend all of Sasami's
money. Little do they realise that a duplicate of Yugi, disguised
as
a regular little girl, is tailing them. After a while, they come across
an antique store. Tenchi, who is lagging behind the energetic Sasami,
doesn't spot Sasami walking through the door, and a brick wall blocking
the door behind her. Thinking she has wandered off, he goes looking
for her. Inside the shop, Sasami looks at some of the antiques, and
is interrupted by Tsugaru, who is acting as the shopkeeper. Although
he acts friendly, Ryo-ohki doesn't trust him, yowling and hissing
at
him.
Meanwhile, outside,
Tenchi bumps into Sakuya who wants a word with him. Although we don't
hear what they were talking about, Sakuya leaves in tears.
Back inside the
shop, Sasami spots an antique music box she likes. However, another
young girl also wants the box; Yugi. She offers the music box to Sasami,
and introduces herself. Yugi and Sasami spend some time looking at the
antiques, before Sasami finally decides the buy the music box. Their
shopping done, Yugi invites Sasami to her house to play, and Sasami
agrees. As Yugi walks towards a mirror, the shop fades out around her,
and a door appears on the other side of the mirror. Yugi steps through
and pulls Sasami with her. As Sasami follows her through the door, she
trips and falls into the blackness below.
When
Sasami awakes, Yugi is waiting for her. They are in Yugi's crystal palace.
Sasami senses that something evil is lurking nearby. She grabs Yugi's
hand and runs, trying to find some way out, but they are ambushed by
Tsugaru, who attacks them with a sword. They try to escape, but Tsugaru
throws a sharp boomerang at them. To save Yugi, Sasami leaps to protect
her, and the boomerang cuts her arm. Ryo-ohki, furious at Tsugaru for
hurting Sasami, transforms into her giant mechanoid form. She chases
Tsugaru away and blasts an exit for Sasami and Yugi. They tumble back
out in the alley, where Tenchi finds them. Sasami introduces Tenchi
to her new friend Yugi, and Yugi returns the music box to Sasami. "A
music box is nice", Yugi tells her, "but no matter how cheerful
the music is at the beginning, you know that eventually it's going to
wind down and stop playing."
Tenchi watches the
pirouetting figures on the music box with a look of sadness in his eyes.
He recalls the earlier conversation with Sakuya, when she asked him
to be her boyfriend, and he told her he wasn't ready for that. He snaps
out of his reverie when Yugi leaves, promising to come and see Sasami
again soon.
