| First aired - | 8th April 1997 |
Tenchi wakes after his first night in his new apartment to find Ryoko in his bed! She has sneaked through the inter-dimensional tunnel, which is now connected between Tenchi's bed in his apartment in Tokyo and his house in Okayama. She is not alone, as she has brought everyone else along, and a freshly-cooked breakfast to boot.
After Tenchi finishes breakfast and leaves for school, the girls return home. The house seems empty without Tenchi, but Washu cheers everyone up by demonstrating a portable version of the inter-dimensional tunnel; a star-shaped portal that connects directly to Tenchi's apartment. However, before too long Ryoko and Ayeka are fighting over where the portal is placed (naturally, both of them want it in their bedrooms). Their squabbling over the portal ends up in it getting stuck to the ceiling of the living room, from where it cannot be moved without Washu having to reset it.
At lunchtime, Tenchi meets two of his new classmates, one of whom is the grandson of Mr. Tsuchida, Tenchi's new Shinto priest teacher. Their introduction is soon interrupted by Sakuya, who takes a seat next to Tenchi. It isn't long before Sakuya and Tenchi are the centre of attention - one of the most popular girls in school flirting with an apparently ordinary boy like Tenchi?
After lunch, Sakuya joins Tenchi as he walks back to his apartment. However, Tenchi spots that Ayeka and Ryoko have paid another visit through the inter-dimensional tunnel. They quickly spot Tenchi walking along with Sakuya. Sakuya trips and is caught by Tenchi, and Ryoko and Ayeka go ballistic at seeing some other girl in the arms of their beloved. Rather than hang around when Ryoko and Ayeka go nuts, Tenchi makes a dash for it, with Sakuya in tow. Without realizing where they are running, Tenchi and Sakuya end up at the Love Knot Shrine. Thinking Tenchi dragged her here on purpose, Sakuya catches on, and prays at the shrine for her and Tenchi to be boyfriend and girlfriend. Her prayer unleashes the Love Knot Goddess, who takes the form of a short and somewhat batty old lady. The goddess whisks Sakuya and Tenchi away to a café for a romantic moment together. Spotting her opportunity, the love goddess tries to tie Tenchi and Sakuya's fingers together with the red string of fate. When she fails on her first attempt, she brings the pair of them to a whole range of fun places around the city, each time trying, and failing, to tie them together.
Exasperated with her failed attempts in Tokyo, she spirits them both away to an enchanted glade, where a tree of fate stands. If Tenchi and Sakuya declare their love under the tree, the love goddess tells them, they will be together forever. Having only just met Sakuya, Tenchi is reluctant to declare his eternal love right away. As he is talking, the love goddess finally manages to tie Sakuya and Tenchi together with a thread of fate. However, she quickly spots a whole bundle of other threads attached to Tenchi's finger. She gives them a tug, and miles away the girls, Tenchi's family, and even Azaka and Kamidake are jolted as their threads that tie them to Tenchi are pulled. Giving the threads a final hard tug, the love goddess pulls Ryoko and Ayeka through into the glade. Determined not to let Ryoko and Ayeka interfere with her plans, she ties them up with black threads, but they both escape and turn the tables on the love goddess by wrapping the black threads into a ball and hurling it back at her. Defeated, the love goddess returns to her resting place in the shrine.
Back at the shrine, Sakuya wakes up, thinking she dreamt the whole thing. However, Yugi has been watching the scene intently. Ryoko and Ayeka swear to watch Sakuya even closer, just to make sure she doesn't try anything funny with their darling Tenchi!
