Episode 25 - No Need for a Showdown!
  Kessen muyô!
  Kessen muyō!
First aired - 17th September 1995

Tenchi, Azaka and Kamidake arrive at the Juraian palace, ready for their final confrontation with Kagato. Above the planet, Nagi fends off the Juraian attack forces.

Azaka faces TettaAs Tenchi and the knights make their way to the royal chamber, Azaka and Kamidake notice that little has changed in the royal palace during their absence. Tenchi wonders why they have not encountered any guards yet. Azaka and Kamidake assure Tenchi that no person could pose any threat to the emperor and his knights, hence there is no need for guards. No sooner have they spoken than they are attacked by one of the emperor's current knights, Tetta. Azaka faces him in combat, ordering Tenchi and Kamidake to continue towards the emperor's chamber.

Meanwhile, aboard one of the Juraian military command stations, Washu and the others have put their latest plan into effect. Using the short-range portable portal (last used in episode 14), the gang invade the station, subdue the crew and issue a demand to cease fire to the admiral himself. Washu threatens to inject their computer systems with a highly contagious computer virus if they do not co-operate. The admiral activates the station's self-destruct mechanism, meaning the gang have to beat a hasty retreat back through the portal, but not before Washu has infected its computer with her super-virus. The virus takes effect almost immediately, and the battle programs are wiped out from most of the fleet's ships, replaced with the image of Washu's grinning visage!

Kamidake faces TesseiIn the Juraian palace, Tenchi and Kamidake encounter Tessei, the second of the emperor's knights. Kamidake squares up to fight him, and orders Tenchi to hurry to the throne room. As they launch into combat, Tenchi makes the final dash to the throne room, ready to face Kagato.

At last, Tenchi reaches the door to the throne room and steps inside. Awaiting him at the centre of the chamber is Kagato. Tenchi draws his sword, Tenchi-ken. Kagato draws his sword as well, a black blade of energy. Tenchi lunges at Kagato, but his sword is stopped by Kagato's shield and he topples backwards down the steps to the throne. Kagato attacks back with an arc of energy thrown from his own sword. Tenchi blocks, but is knocked backwards by its force.

Meanwhile, the battle between Azaka and Kamidake and their evil counterparts intensifies. Although Tetta and Tessei possess more skills than Azaka and Kamidake, as the legendary knights tell them, they lack the honour and noble spirit that is so important to a Juraian knight. They both attack with incredible ferocity, managing to defeat their counterparts. However, the effort has left them both immensely drained, and they collapse with exhaustion.

Outside the palace, the gang, aboard the Yagami, are chased down by the remaining Juraian ships. They crash-land, and they are forced to admit defeat as the ship is too damaged to move.

In the throne room, Kagato stands over Tenchi's stricken form. He announces that he wishes to end the bloodlines of the Juraian royal family, and raises his sword to finish Tenchi off. However, before he can strike, Ayeka breaks free of her confinement and attacks Kagato with a bolt of Jurai energy. Fight to the deathHe deflects her attack with ease, and strikes her with a wave of energy from his sword. Ayeka is sent flying and is knocked unconscious against the wall. Kagato is about to kill her when Tenchi struggles to his feet again and resumes the fight. His rage unleashes such an amount of Jurai energy that the chamber around him is transformed, and the trees drop their leaves. He draws his sword once more, forming a more powerful blade. He and Kagato charge at each other, their blades clashing in mortal combat. When they finally part, Kagato turns to Tenchi and sees how much Tenchi resembles his nemesis Yosho. Kagato sinks to his knees, defeated. Ayeka runs sobbing into the arms of Tenchi, the true and victorious heir of Jurai.
