| Episode 22 - | No Need for Knights! |
| Kishi muyō! | |
| First aired - | 27th August 1995 |
On planet Jurai, there is much consternation about the princesses' escape from the checkpoint in the previous episode. However, the Juraian military is ready for them, and have stationed hundreds of patrol ships throughout the Juraian territory to capture them.
Meanwhile, aboard the Yagami, Tenchi and Ayeka are discussing the next course of action. Now closer than ever to proving their innocence, Tenchi assures Ayeka that it won't be long before she can return home to Jurai and he can return to Earth.
Just as Kiyone arrives in the Yagami's cockpit to start her shift, she discovers that a Juraian ship has located them. The ship opens fire upon them, and there is no obvious means of escape. However, Katsuhito has a solution, and guides them towards an apparently empty sector of space. This area is in fact the Sacred Place, an area of Juraian territory that people are forbidden to enter. Without permission to follow them further, the Juraian military is forced to abandon their pursuit.
When Tenchi asks his grandfather how he knew about the Sacred Place, he quickly changes the subject, then leaves the cockpit. Outside, he meets Azaka and Kamidake, and tells them that it would be wise for "their originals" to join them. Tenchi catches up with him and asks him again how he knows so much about the Juraians. Katsuhito tells Tenchi that, given the current situation, there are certain things that he must know.
As the Yagami arrives on a planet in the Sacred Place, Ayeka wonders if the planet is the resting place of the two legendary Juraian knights. According to the legend, these Juraian knights once served the first king of Jurai, and following their victory in a great battle, they were laid to rest in the Sacred Place. The legend also tells that the two knights will return when the Juraian royal family is in peril.
After landing, the group proceed, led by Katsuhito, into a forest of tree stumps. At the centre stands a huge Juraian tree, the resting place of the two legendary knights. Either side of the tree lie two sarcophagi, bearing the same symbols found on the front of Azaka and Kamidake. Obeying Katsuhito's orders, Azaka and Kamidake stand on two round pedestals next to the sarcophagi. Katsuhito clasps his hands together and becomes surrounded by a glowing field of energy, which Ayeka recognises as a characteristic of the power of Jurai. Azaka and Kamidake glow with the same energy, and the sarcophagi open, revealing the mummified remains of the two warriors. The energy concentrates on the tree and the bodies of the Juraian warriors, and out of the glowing light steps the two warriors, the original humanoid Azaka and Kamidake, fully reformed and reanimated. They step forward and kneel before Katsuhito, addressing him as the king of Jurai, much to everyone else's disbelief. Katsuhito admits that he is not the Juraian king, but that he is a direct descendant of the Juraian royal family; he is, in fact, Yosho, the missing Juraian warrior and heir to the throne.
Meanwhile, the Juraian military have gained permission to enter the Sacred Place, and they resume their pursuit of the princesses, using any means necessary to capture them.
Back on the planet in the Sacred Place, Katsuhito fills in everyone on his extraordinary history. After leaving planet Jurai in the company of his lover Haruna, he arrived on Earth. However, his lover had passed away on their journey (see movie Haruka naru omoi), and he decided to remain on planet Earth, where he later met his wife, Itsuki, inherited the Masaki shrine and took the name Katsuhito Masaki.
Tenchi and Nobuyuki are in a state of disbelief over this revelation. Tenchi in particular is surprised; since his late mother, Achika, was Katsuhito and Itsuki's daughter (see movie Tenchi Muyo in Love!), he too is a descendant of the Juraian royal family. Washu realises that since Katsuhito is actually the Juraian prince Yosho, he must know the true identity of the man who took the Juraian throne claiming to be Yosho.
Suddenly, the Juraian military arrive and attack. Ryo-Ohki tries to transform into her spaceship form to help everyone escape, but she becomes trapped inside a crystal. The Juraian warriors Azaka and Kamidake leap into action, brandishing their staffs at the Juraian ship. They effortlessly deflect its fire back, destroying the ship and freeing Ryo-Ohki.
The battle ended, the group prepares to leave. They are leaving with two new members to their group, but two members are to be left behind; Ayeka's guardians, the non-humanoid Azaka and Kamidake, are dead, having sacrificed their life energy to resurrect their humanoid counterparts.
On Jurai, news of the princesses' escape from the military and the resurrection of the legendary knights Azaka and Kamidake has reached the Juraian emperor, the emperor now known to be fake. He greatly anticipates his eventual meeting with the true prince Yosho.
Meanwhile, the gang make the final leg of their journey to planet Jurai. Sasami and Azaka while the time away playing video games (at which Sasami is much more skilled!). Ayeka is absorbed in thought, surprised that Tenchi has turned out to be a descendant of the Juraian royal family.
