Episode 16 - No Need for Hiding!
  Senpuku muyô!
  Senpuku muyô!
First aired - 16th July 1995

Tenchi and family continue their journey to Jurai to find out more about the supposed new emperor, Yosho. Fortunately, the family still have a few of the familiar home comforts, thanks to Washu, who has restored the Masaki home to its former size (after being shrunk in episode 14) inside the cargo bay of the Yagami. However, Kiyone has an important announcement. She calls everyone away from a rowdy karaoke session (Ryoko even brought a karaoke machine along) to report that the shuttle is very low on fuel. What is worse, there is no money left either; Ryoko spent the last on the karaoke machine! They have no choice but to find jobs on the nearest planet to pay for the fuel.

The perfect hostessesSome time later, the fugitives have found work at a cocktail bar. Azaka and Kamidake work the doors, coaxing customers into the bar in their own inimitable (and intimidating) fashion. Tenchi and Nobuyuki act as the waiters, Ryoko, Ayeka, Mihoshi and Washu as the hostesses, and Katsuhito as the barman. Poor Kiyone and Sasami are lumbered with washing dishes in the kitchens.

Business is going well until a familiar face enters the bar; the ruthless bounty-hunter Nagi! Luckily for the family, Nagi fails to see through their disguises and leaves after one incredibly overpriced cocktail.

Pleasant childhood memoriesAfter a hard night's work, the gang count the takings (save for Ryoko, who has drunk most of the alcohol in the bar and fallen asleep). Ayeka complains that bar work should be below a crown princess' duties, and fondly remembers her first big trip as a young princess to a beautiful planet in a neighbouring galaxy. However, she recalls, she crossed paths with the boorish Ryoko at that time as well, who repeatedly set about ruining her pleasant vacation.

Ryoko, who has regained consciousness sufficiently to protest about Ayeka's story, assures everyone that Ayeka's tale is a phoney. She maintains that it was Ayeka who was in the wrong, bullying the young Ryoko at every turn. Once again, Ryoko and Ayeka's stories are completely opposite!

Rather than stick around for another argument, the family decide to turn in for the night. Luckily, Ryoko and Ayeka are too tired to fight, and decide to join them. As they leave the bar, Washu asks if anyone remembered to turn off the gas, and Mihoshi assures them that she saw to it. However, as if proof were needed of what an assurance from Mihoshi is worth, the bar is suddenly destroyed in an enormous gas explosion!

News of the gas explosion spreads quickly, and with reports that the fugitive gang were seen in the area, the rumour that the explosion was a terrorist incident caused by them springs up. The Galaxy Police and Juraian military are soon back on their tails, and the family are forced to beat a hasty retreat aboard the Yagami. To add further to their troubles, Nagi, aboard Ken-Ohki, joins the chase, blasting the Galaxy Police and Juraian craft so that Ryoko is left to her to capture. Luckily, the battle gives the gang time to escape, leaving Nagi to fend off the Galaxy Police and Juraian military.

Even geniuses can be tone-deafAs the journey to Jurai progresses once more, Kiyone discusses the situation with Tenchi, wondering why this Yosho has not shown his face to the media yet. However, the others are rather more carefree, having brought out the karaoke machine again for another round of riotous singing!
