Episode 4 - Mihoshi Falls to the Land of Stars
hoshi furu sato ni Mihoshi furu
Hoshi furu sato ni Mihoshi furu
Release date -  10th December 1992

In deep space, a fleet of Galaxy Police spacecraft is engaged in combat with a single, huge battleship. The Galaxy Police are losing badly, as the deadly battleship simply smashes through their defences.

Mihoshi, ready for duty!Meanwhile, at GP headquarters, news of the location of the infamous space criminal Kagato has reached the Galaxy Police. The commander, already buried under piles of paperwork, is alarmed to discover that the only officer in the vicinity is Mihoshi, granddaughter of the police marshall and the same Galaxy Police officer responsible for all the damage claims cluttering up his desk. However, the chief suggests to the commander that sending Mihoshi on a simple patrol mission should keep her out of trouble for a while. The chief contacts Mihoshi aboard her shuttle with her new orders. As dedicated as ever, she accepts the mission, misinterpreting her chief's orders and believing she is assigned to capture Kagato. She sets a course for the solar system, Kagato's last known location.

Poor, embarrassed Tenchi!Meanwhile, back on Earth, Tenchi and his extended family have arrived at a hot springs resort for a short vacation. As Tenchi is unloading the car, Ryoko confronts him about the time he has been spending with Ayeka, accusing him of flirting with her. Tenchi protests his innocence, but Ryoko remains suspicious.

Later in the hot springs, much mischief is afoot as Nobuyuki tries to demonstrate the finer points of being a peeping tom to Tenchi. However, Tenchi's lecherous father gets the shock of his life when, peeping over the fence around the women's bath, he finds Ryoko peering back at him! Ryoko, however, was looking for Tenchi and when she spots him, she appears before him, stark naked, and transports the embarrassed Tenchi up to the women's bath. A bashful Ayeka, after some cajoling from Ryoko, decides to join Tenchi in the hot spring, but Ryoko rips her towel off right in front of him, and he passes out! An argument ensues, which quickly escalates into an all-out fight between Ryoko and Ayeka. Ryoko summons a water demon to attack Ayeka, but realises, too late, that she can't control it, and it runs amok through the resort. Tenchi fetches the sword to destroy the beast, but his battle is cut short when a warp hole, caused by the energy reaction of the water beast, opens up in the sky above the resort, sucking him and the demon into the air. Mihoshi's ship, which is plunging out of control towards Earth, bursts out of the hole, and an unconscious Mihoshi appears in the air next to Tenchi. Just as suddenly as it appeared, the warp hole disappears, leaving Tenchi and Mihoshi to plummet towards the pool below.

“Could you please not eat my gun?”Later, inside the hot springs inn, Mihoshi regains consciousness. As she is explaining what she is doing on Earth, her wristband scanner picks up the signal of a space pirate nearby. What she doesn't realise is that the signal she is receiving is from Ryo-Ohki, and the shock of seeing an apparently “dangerous space pirate” in the form of a cute cabbit is too much for her, and she passes out again.

That night, Sasami is having a nightmare. Floating alone in space, she sees a shadowy figure, who lunges at her with a sword. She awakes to see Ryo-Ohki staring restlessly into the sky. The shadow of a huge battleship passes across the moon, and Ryoko notices it as well, an expression of deep anxiety on her face.

Note about the episode title: The English title "Mihoshi Falls to the Land of Stars" does not make any particular sense until you understand what Mihoshi's name means in Japanese. The kanji used to write her name translate literally as "beautiful star". The Japanese episode title, "Hoshi furu sato ni Mihoshi furu", is therefore a play on her name.
