Tenchi Movies note: These movie summaries contain spoilers. Read on at your own risk!
This page contains brief summaries of the movies. Click
the movie title for a more detailed description and screenshots from
the movie. The first Tenchi movie is set in the first TV series (Tenchi Universe)
continuity. In deep space, an explosion leaves Galaxy Police headquarters a burnt-out
shell. Their last transmission, a distress call; Kain has escaped. Meanwhile,
on Earth, Tenchi is showing the girls an old home movie of Achika, his
late mother, when her image vanishes before their eyes. Worse still,
Tenchi himself is starting to disappear, and the house itself crumbles
into ruin around them. Washu, who was quick enough to put a force-field
around Tenchi to save him, explains that some event in history has wiped
out Tenchi's mother, meaning Tenchi was never born. As they travel back
in time to 1970, they discover that Kain is responsible for Achika's
disappearance, and must protect her life at all costs. Daughter
of Darkness (Manatsu no Eve) The second Tenchi movie is set in the OVA novel continuity (leading
off from Naoko Hasegawa's novels that are based on the first OVA series). One hot summer's day, a girl named Mayuka turns up at the Masaki home
claiming to be Tenchi's daughter. While
this is patently impossible, her being about the same age as Tenchi,
a paternity test conducted by Washu confirms that Mayuka is indeed telling
the truth. Despite this inexplicable situation, Mayuka's charming personality
soon wins her favour with Tenchi's extended family (save for Ryoko,
who is highly suspicious of her). However, they do not know that a demon,
Yuzuha, is watching them from the shadows, and is using Mayuka as a
tool of revenge against Yosho. Tenchi
Forever (Tenchi Muyo in Love 2 - Haruka naru omoi) The third Tenchi movie concludes the first TV series (Tenchi Universe). On a spring morning,
Tenchi gets involved in an argument between Ryoko and Ayeka. The quarrelsome
pair put Tenchi on the spot and ask him to choose who is in the right,
but rather than pick sides, he distracts them and makes a swift escape
into the woods, where he hears a woman calling his name. As he approaches
a camellia tree, the apparent source of the voice, he vanishes. Weeks
pass without a sign of him, despite his friends' ceaseless searching,
until they eventually locate him, some six months after his disappearance.
Not only has Tenchi noticeably matured in his absence, but he is now
living with a young woman named Haruna. When Ryoko and Ayeka confront
him, they discover that he is living in a dream world where he cannot
even see them, much less remember them. Just who is the mysterious Haruna,
and what has she done to change him so dramatically? |
