Dub title - Seiryo Attacks
First aired - 7th August 2002

The Kamidake II is under attack from the brand-new flagship of the Good Luck Fleet. Seina is shocked to discover that the captain is none other than Seiryo Tennan, his former teacher at the Academy. The Luckiest Ship attacksAmane opens fire on the Luckiest Ship, but it manages to avoid every shot. This is not due to any piloting skill, but sheer luck; the ship is being navigated by drawing bingo balls, with the crew pressing control buttons on their consoles for each number drawn! Seiryo gets a full line and calls "bingo" as he presses the button, which launches missiles at the Kamidake. Another Good Luck Fleet ship drops out of hyperspace and collides with the Kamidake, disabling the shields and cloaking device. Every one of Seiryo's missiles plough into the Kamidake, causing severe damage and rendering Fuku unconscious.

Some time later, Airi and Principal Mikami discuss this latest turn of events. Surprising though the attack on the Kamidake was, it is not half as surprising as Seiryo's defection to the Pirates Guild. They are glad that Seina and his crew escaped unharmed, but the Kamidake has been heavily damaged. Seiryo himself, meanwhile, is unhappy he couldn't defeat his foe, but swears to score a triple bingo next time and destroy Seina once and for all!

While the Kamidake is being repaired, Seiryo and the crew check up on Fuku, who is confined to a medical pod to recover. Amane is extremely angry to have been defeated by the pompous Seiryo, and not to have even scored one hit on his ship. She storms off to let off some steam by lifting weights. Shortly afterwards, Neiju enters and announces the arrival of a guest; Mrs Kaunaq (who we last saw in episode 8). She has come to offer Amane the chance to take part in a fashion show for the Galaxy Police and the Academy (Amane's parents . However, Amane's rather tense relationship with her father means she is unlikely to simply agree right off the bat.

Sure enough, when Principal Mikami breaks the news, Amane refuses. Mikami tries reasoning with her and even ordering her to do it, but still Amane will not listen. Mikami changes tack by asking Seina if he would like to see Amane modelling in the fashion show. Seina, who has heard of Amane's reputation as a top model prior to her Galaxy Police career, admits that he does. Flattered, Amane finally agrees to do it.

The next day, Amane, Seina and Mikami arrive at the auditorium in a fancy limousine. They are met by Amane's parents. Mr Kaunaq rushes to hug his daughter, overjoyed that she has quit the Galaxy Police (he thinks) and returned to modelling. Japanese comedy disguises #1: big glasses and face mask!Naturally, this manages to put Amane in a foul mood. Seina apologises for getting her involved, which calms her down again. Meanwhile, Kiriko and Ryoko, who have disguised themselves as cleaning ladies, keep an eye on them both to make sure they don't get up to any funny business. They have already taken care of two of their other regular nuisances; NB has been chained up to keep him from peeping on all the models, and Neiju has been left to take care of Fuku.

Amane's buoyant mood lasts about as far as the dressing room, where she finds her father badgering the wardrobe assistants to find only the best clothes for his daughter. Amane storms off in a huff once again, but bumps into Jun, an old friend from her modelling days. Jun is a little disappointed to discover that Amane's return to the catwalk is a one-off only, and for a moment Amane appears to share the same feeling.

Before the show starts, the show's director gathers the models together to run over the itinerary. The first half of the show will be a regular catwalk fashion parade, but the second half will be a combat simulation (it is, after all, a show for new Galaxy Police apparel). Kiriko and Ryoko continue to spy on the proceedings, but Mikami catches them both in the act!

As Amane puts on her makeup, she tells Seina that she is both nervous and excited about the show, a feeling she hasn't had since she was last modelling. She remembers that she didn't leave her previous career because she hated modelling. As Seina watches the rehearsals, he considers Amane's change in attitude. He remembers her telling him that she joined the Galaxy Police because she could never have realised her full potential as a model. Having finished her first part of the rehearsal, Amane joins Seina to watch the rest of the first half. Just then, a tall and rather well-endowed model enters. She is Vega, an old rival of Amane's from her modelling days and a woman she wasn't keen to meet again. NB, who has since escaped from his chains, is clamped to Vega's chest like some bizarre limpet! Viva lass VegaVega, an interminable braggart, immediately lays into Amane, taunting her about "running away to join the Galaxy Police". She goes on to make fun of Amane's muscles and calloused hands, the results of her years of service in the GP. Having said her piece, Vega turns and leaves. Amane seems downcast as a result of Vega's taunting, but she assures herself that joining the Galaxy Police was the right decision. Seina tells her that he likes her hands, callouses and all; just like his mother's and Tenchi's, they are a sign of hard work, and they are somehow comforting. Seina then blurts out that he thinks Amane is prettier than Vega anyway, and they both blush furiously. Principal Mikami, who has been eavesdropping on them both, interrupts them. She wishes Amane luck with the show, telling her to go and show the other models what real GP officers are made of.

The evening of the show arrives, and the auditorium is packed out. Vega is first out onto the catwalk, and she taunts Amane once again as she passes. Vega models a low-cut black gown with a white cape. She laps up the adulation from the audience until the spotlight swings over to Amane, who is modelling the new formal uniform. Mr Kaunaq is by far the most vocal audience member, embarrassing his daughter by cheering her on loudly. Meanwhile, Kiriko and Ryoko have been put to work in the auditorium control booth by Mikami as punishment for their snooping. Seina is staying backstage in the dressing room, trying desperately to avoid gazing at the models changing! Amane, who is preparing for the second half of the show, is trying to get her battle suit modified to make it easier for her to move. Vega mocks her once again, declaring that on the catwalk, appearances are more important than practicality.

The second half of the show gets underway, and Amane steps out in the new combat suit. The audience are unsure what to think; the combat suit is something of a letdown after the sexy garments of the first half. However, as Amane tells herself, she is not on stage as a model now, but as a Galaxy Police officer. The combat demonstration begins, and Amane is surrounded by a series of targets, some of them moving, some of them firing back. She draws her pistol and returns fire, hitting each and every target flawlessly. The audience is thrilled, except for Mr Kaunaq who watches with a serious look on his face. Soon, Amane comes up against an indestructible bat-shaped target. Amane kicks simulated buttA large bazooka-style weapon is provided for her, and she dodges the bat target's fire, grabs the weapon and fires back. Amane deftly blasts the final target, finishing her display and earning a round of cheering and applause from the audience. She gets a similar reception upon returning to the dressing room, and Seina compliments her on her skill. Vega refuses to be upstaged by her old rival, and steps out for her own combat demonstration. However, with a body more suited to modelling than fighting she can barely even lift her gun, and she gets blasted from every direction by the laser-toting targets!

After the show, Amane's father is upset; he knows that despite his wishes, Amane deserves to follow her own path. Amane and Seina ride home in the limousine, and she invites him to enjoy a hot bath with her! She is just thanking Seina for telling her she was pretty when the furious Kiriko and Ryoko appear on the videophone screen, still making sure Amane and Seina aren't getting up to any funny business. Vega, meanwhile, is furious at having been soundly beaten by her old rival. She takes out her frustrations on NB, who doesn't seem to mind the punishment...
