A fine summer morning
dawns in Okayama, and Seina and his crew awake. Seina gets a ruder awakening
than usual when, so characteristic of his bad luck, Fuku accidentally
pulls a light fixture down on his head! NB, meanwhile, is in the doghouse
in the most literal sense. The lecherous robot has been adopted as a
pet by Seina's sister Yoshiko,
and she has chained him up in a dog kennel!
Seina
sets out on a bike ride across the countryside, taking Fuku with
him.
He is amazed how much easier it is riding up hills thanks to his body
strengthening procedure. They pass the home of Tenchi Masaki, and
Seina
tells Fuku that he has heard her creator, Washu, lives there. He decides
to go and pay them a visit. Unfortunately, as Seina reaches a corner
in the road at great speed he manages to snap the brake lever off
and his bike careers through the crash barrier, pitching the luckless
lad
into a carrot field. Seina gets up to find a concerned Tenchi and Ryo-ohki
standing over him.
As Ryo-ohki plays
with Fuku, Tenchi and Seina catch up on events since their last meeting.
Tenchi had already heard about Seina joining the Galaxy Police from
Airi, his grandmother. Seina asks Tenchi if Washu lives with him, and
Tenchi confirms this. Seina has already met Ryoko and Ayeka several
times, and often used to see Sasami and Noike shopping in town. Seina
tells Tenchi he is keen to take Fuku to see Washu, and he also wants
to thank Washu for designing such a wonderful spaceship (his command,
the Kamidake II). Luckily, they don't have very far to go to see her;
much to Seina's surprise, Washu pops up out of nowhere! Seina is astonished
that the number one scientist in the universe should look so young,
but Washu gives him a quick lesson in not judging by appearances by
briefly changing into her adult form (just like in Tenchi
Muyo! OVA episode 8)! Washu examines Fuku, and Seina wonders
if the young
cabbit will grow up to look like Ryo-ohki. Washu demonstrates that Ryo-ohki's
humanoid form is still unstable; a mere clap of her hands causes Ryo-ohki
to revert to cabbit form. As Fuku and Ryo-ohki chase each other excitedly
around the carrot field, Washu tells Seina that Fuku does have the potential
to grow into a humanoid form. However, she warns him, if he doesn't
look after her she could turn out like her other daughter Ryoko!
Soon,
Sasami arrives with a picnic for Tenchi and Ryo-ohki, and she is
pleasantly
surprised to find Seina there as well. She soon spots Fuku playing
with Ryo-ohki, and she offers the pair some carrot sandwiches. Noike,
the
newest addition to the Masaki household, arrives driving a blue van.
Meanwhile, Mrs Yamada
has enlisted Ryoko Balouta, Amane and Kiriko to help out in the family
grocery store. Kiriko and Amane are a little annoyed at being roped
into working, but are still eager to do anything they can to please
Seina's parents. Ryoko, however, seems in her element, and happily prepares
the shop for the day's business. The presence of three attractive new
shop assistants proves popular with the local townsfolk, and before
long the store is swarming with customers. In fact, the store becomes
so busy that the girls find it almost impossible to keep up!
As Tenchi loads
the morning's carrot harvest onto the back of the van, Noike explains
her connection to the Masaki family; being the adopted daughter of Lady
Seto, Noike is Ayeka and Sasami's aunt. Tenchi suggests that he and
Seina go and see his grandfather, and challenges him to a race to the
shrine. Surprisingly, Tenchi is quite capable of keeping up with Seina,
even though Seina is on his bicycle and Tenchi on foot! Of course, Seina
cannot outrun disaster and he crashes his bike once again, this time
landing in the pool surrounding the holy tree of the Masaki shrine.
He resurfaces from under the water to find Tenchi's grandfather Katsuhito
watching him with amusement. As Seina greets Katsuhito, he thinks he
hears someone call his name. Katsuhito tells him that it must be the
tree, his Juraian royal tree, that was calling him. Suddenly Ryoko teleports
in and, not noticing him in the water, lands on Seina's head!
After
realising her mistake and apologising, Ryoko goes with the others to
her old cave. Tenchi explains that Ryoko is Washu's daughter, making
her Fuku's sister as well (a fact that just adds to Seina's confusion).
Soon, Ayeka comes looking for Ryoko, who has been shirking her cleaning
duties. She spots Seina and greets him courteously, but Ryoko antagonises
her by pulling faces at her. Sure enough, one of their regular fights
breaks out. As Ryoko and Ayeka exchange blows, Katsuhito tells Seina
of the legendary demon who was trapped in the cave. Removing his elderly
disguise for a moment he reveals that the samurai in the legend was
in fact himself, and Ryoko was the demon. He goes on to tell the astonished
Seina that Tenchi released her two years previously, and both the explosion
at Kurashiki high school and the collapse of the Seto rail bridge were
because of her! Soon, Noike arrives to escort Seina back to the Masaki
home.
Meanwhile, Ryoko
Balouta, Kiriko and Amane have finished their day's work at the shop
and are completely exhausted. Neiju, who has also joined them for a
drink, wonders why a defenceless planet such as Earth lacks any kind
of protection by Jurai or the Galaxy Police. Amane explains that with
so many Juraians living under the Masaki roof, all of them having powerful
royal trees, not to mention a first-class GP detective and Tenchi with
his formidable power, the Earth is far from defenceless. Ryoko mentions
that she heard Tarant Shunk attempted to kidnap the Yamada family in
revenge for his first encounter with Seina (see episode
10), but was fended off by Tenchi and his cohabitants.
As
evening draws in, Tenchi and Seina take a bath in the floating bathhouse.
Tenchi reveals that his father has since remarried and moved to nearby
Kurashiki. This means that Tenchi is now the only man living in a house
full of women, a fact that Seina gives Tenchi a sound ribbing about.
Tenchi retorts by pointing out that Seina also lives and works with
three attractive women. However, they both have to admit that it isn't
as much fun as it sounds! Suddenly, Ryoko decides to join them, popping
through the wall and surprising Seina. Tenchi, however, is rather more
used to her intrusions, and warns her that she is getting more and more
like Washu!
Later, Washu performs
some tests on Seina while Sasami and Noike cook dinner. Washu compares
her data with the data that Elma and the Manhunters collected (see episode
5). She provides her own theory on why Ryo-ohki has come to his
aid on two separate occasions (episode 12 and
episode 15); Seina has a talent for attracting
pirates, and the Ryo-ohki is, after all, a pirate ship. Soon, the
family
sits down to dinner, and Tenchi puts the finishing touch to cooking
the nabemono (stew cooked at the table). Just as they are about
to serve the food, Mihoshi arrives aboard her shuttle. Her usual bad
piloting sends a wave of water thrown up by her shuttle's exhausts
crashing into the house, ruining dinner!
Meanwhile, Ryoko
B., Amane, Kiriko and Neiju take a relaxing bath. However, they cannot
relax for long; suddenly, they receive an urgent call from the Galaxy
Police. On vacation or not, Seina and his crew have work to do...
Tenchi
has just finished cooking a fresh batch of chicken stew, but no sooner
are they are ready to serve the meal than Kiriko and Amane drive up
the house in an aircar. With barely any time to explain, they drag Seina
and Fuku away from their meal to attend to the emergency call. They
join Ryoko and Neiju, who have already gone back to the Kamidake, and
rush off to attend, Seina still bemoaning his missing out on Tenchi's
chicken stew!
