Seina and the girls
bid farewell to Neiju as she leaves aboard a Galaxy Police transport
ship. Fuku, the newly-hatched cabbit that acts as the power supply and
control unit for the Kamidake, is sad to see Neiju leave.
Some time later,
Seina and his crew are out on another decoy patrol. Once again, they
have attracted a fleet of space pirates, and are under attack. Fuku,
unaccustomed to such peril, begins to panic, and the ship loses control.
The girls are barely able to wrestle the ship back under their control
and make an escape.
Later, at Amane's
house, the girls discuss Fuku's problem. Kiriko remarks that Fuku is
still a new-born, but Ryoko points out that unless Fuku can overcome
her fear of combat, the ship will never achieve its full potential.
Seina takes steps
to help their next mission go smoother. He bathes Fuku and dries her
with his towel, and tries to gently reassure her. However, on their
next mission the ship comes under space pirate attack again.
Fuku
screams in terror at the first barrage of laser fire and causes the
ship to turn tail and escape.
After this latest
failure, the girls decide that they should build a backup control system
into the ship to take over from Fuku until she gains the confidence
she needs to face combat. Seina agrees to their plan, but Fuku feels
rejected. As Seina puts Fuku to bed, he explains that the girls' plan
is for her own good. He leaves Fuku to return to work, and Fuku lets
out a lonely mewl.
The next day, Seina
and the girls take Fuku out on a simple training mission. With a battery
of sensors monitoring Fuku's responses, the girls hope to be able to
capture and simulate Fuku's behaviour. First, they fly through hoops
to capture Fuku's manoeuvring data, then move on to target practice
by shooting down asteroids. Soon enough, the girls have collected sufficient
data to replace Fuku's functions. As they pore over the results, Fuku
begins to feel distinctly redundant, and only Seina actually pays any
attention to her.
The following day,
Fuku comes onto the bridge, dragging Seina's towel (which she has taken
to sleeping wrapped up in) with her. There she finds Seina and the
girls hard at work adjusting the new control systems. Kiriko takes the
towel off Fuku and tells her she will no longer be needed on the bridge
once their work is complete; she can stay home and need never be traumatised
by pirate attacks again. However, Fuku's feelings of rejection are only
made worse, especially after the first test run of the backup system
proves it to be a rousing success. Fuku retires to her bed that night
in a dejected state.
Kiriko
brings her a fresh towel to sleep on, but without Seina's scent on it
she isn't interested. Unable to sleep, she wanders onto the bridge and
sits in Seina's chair. Seina enters and pets her for a while, and she
begins to calm down. Before long, she falls into a contented sleep and
dreams about her earliest memories of being inside her egg. She remembers
Washu, her creator, showing Ryo-ohki the egg. Fuku meows with delight
at the memory, and the ship responds to her.
Some time later,
Seina awakes, having fallen asleep while working aboard the Kamidake.
He is shocked to discover the ship has left port of its own accord and
is cruising through deep space. He rushes to the bridge, but Fuku has
locked him out!
News of the Kamidake's
disappearance has reached Airi and principal Mikami. Amane, Kiriko and
Ryoko receive a telling off for losing the ship, which is now nowhere
to be found. Airi chastises them for treating Fuku like a machine instead
of considering her feelings. Treat Fuku with love, she tells them, and
she will soon overcome her fears.
On board the Kamidake,
Seina tries to reason with Fuku, but she still refuses to let him on
the bridge. Suddenly, an explosion rocks the ship and Fuku finally allows
Seina through the portal onto the bridge. He beholds a familiar sight
on the ship's view screens; a fleet of space pirates has tracked him
down!
Meanwhile, Alan,
Barry and Cohen's ordeal at the hands of a band of space pirates continues.
The three of them are being held in the brig of a pirate ship, and are
growing hungrier by the moment! A sexy female pirate arrives to tell
them dinner will be delayed, but the trio are suddenly more interested
in looking up her skirt than the time of their next meal!
On
Airi's ship, principal Mikami suggests that Fuku may be heading back
to Earth. Airi is worried that with Seina aboard, they could be placed
at risk. Kiriko quickly manages to locate them via their distress
beacon.
They are nearing Earth, and too far out of range for them to go and
help. Amane remembers that the Kuramitsu family's battleship, the
Chobimaru, should be within transporter range. The girls board the
teleport
but discover
they are over the weight limit. They strip down to their underwear,
desperate to bring the weight down, but soon discover the reason
for
the excess load; NB is trying to sneak along with them for some sly
peeping!
The girls arrive
aboard the Chobimaru and call Lady Seto to request permission to
use
it. The captain of the Chobimaru, Mashisu Kuramitsu, is annoyed at
their intrusion, but is willing to assist in helping Ryo-ohki's
sister. The
battle station, which bears a startling resemblance to a gigantic golf
ball, charges into action.
They
quickly arrive at the Kamidake's location and find the ship
paralysed and under heavy assault. Fuku is terrified, and as soon as
the girls see the cabbit in distress, they prepare to open fire
on the
pirate fleet. However, with the Kamidake in their line of fire there
is no clear shot. Seina manages to reassure Fuku that
he and
the girls are on her side, and she finally gains the confidence to
face the pirates. She takes up her position at the centre of the
bridge,
and the Kamidake joins the Chobimaru in fighting off the pirates. Even
the Ryo-ohki arrives on the scene and joins the fray!
After the battle,
Mikami contacts the Kamidake. She suggests that they all take a well-deserved
break on Earth. Fuku, now far more confident in her role as the heart
of the spaceship, falls asleep in Kiriko's arms.
