Episode 5 -	Darkness and a Sweet Trap

On his first evening in the Academy dorms, Seina is watching television with his new roommates, Kenneth and Rajau. Suddenly, the TV cuts out and is replaced by holograms of two Academy officials. Kenneth and Rajau spring to their feet, and Seina follows their lead. The officials perform a scan on the three roommates, suggest they get plenty of rest ahead of the induction ceremony tomorrow, and disappear again. Kenneth and Rajau explain that the same thing happens every day, right up until graduation. Seina decides to follow the officials' advice and turn in early, but his roommates have a better plan; head out after curfew for and go where the action is!

As the trio sneak across campus, Kenneth explains that with all the different races gathered at the Galaxy Police there are the wildest and most diverse parties every night. Seina frets about being caught, but Rajau has disabled the security systems in advance. Before long, they come to a storage warehouse, one of the routes out of the Academy, but a dangerous place for any students out past curfew. The area is patrolled by flying security robots, and any student who gets caught is marked with an obscene tattoo! Even Kenneth has acquired one in his previous night-time excursions, one which is fortunately hidden under his hair. Rajau cracks the electronic lock on the warehouse door, but accidentally alerts the security robots. The trio flee, the octopus-like robots in hot pursuit and firing ink blobs (which form into the shameful marks) at them. They soon encounter a whole group of other students who are also being chased, and lead them on a frenetic chase through the warehouse. They spot an aircar ahead, but it is too small to carry them all, so Kenneth drops a handy banana peel into the crowd, toppling them all and giving himself, Rajau and Seina the chance to escape. Seina makes it to the car but Kenneth and Rajau are both hit full in the face by the robots' ink pellets. Seina grabs them, bundles them into the car and drives straight out through the warehouse door.

The trio head into town, eager to experience the nightlife. Kenneth tries turning on the charm with a pair of young ladies driving alongside, but the obscene mark left on his face by the security robots scares them off! Kenneth is worried that their unfortunate blemishes will ruin their chances at any parties, but Rajau has an idea...

As the trio hit town, they attract some puzzled stares thanks to Rajau's cunning plan, namely he and Kenneth wearing paper bags over their heads to cover their disfiguring marks. They start their evening at a late-night coffee bar, where they discuss girlfriends. Kenneth and Rajau admit that neither of them have one, which is why they sneak out at night in hopes of finding their ideal women at a party. Just then, Amane passes by and stops to talk to Seina. His roommates are amazed that he is familiar with such a well-known and beautiful Galaxy Police officer. She invites them for drinks in a cosy bar, and Kenneth and Rajau start entertaining thoughts of a foursome with Amane. Indeed, Seina notices that Amane seems to be acting more overtly sexual towards them. However, she seems to have led them into a trap. She presses a concealed button under the table and their seats drop through the floor. A dome closes in around them and fills with sleeping gas. Seina and his roommates lose consciousness.

When they come around, they are in a cell deep underground. Their abductor enters and deactivates her holographic disguise, revealing she is not really Amane, but Elma, the Wau that Seina met earlier (see episode 4). As Kenneth has since suspected, they have been captured by a Manhunt group. As they are led away from their cell, Kenneth explains that the Manhunters gather people for human experiments. However, this isn't as bad as it seems; detailed data is collected from the subjects and the experiments performed in simulation only.

Before long, they reach a huge chamber where dozens of eager scientists await them. Kenneth and Rajau are led away for a separate experiment, and Seina is strapped into a chair with various sensors and devices to record every detail about him. Within a few seconds, all his data has been collected and he is released. Elma leads him to the waiting room, but as they walk he hears his roommates screaming and rushes into one of the laboratories. He finds them both tied up, stripped naked and surrounded by eager young female scientists poking and prodding their most intimate areas!

After their unusual evening, Elma drops Seina, Kenneth and Rajau back at the Academy. However, as they are walking back to their dorm, they suddenly find themselves surrounded by security robots!

Meanwhile, in the underground experiment chamber, the scientists have been thrown into a state of confusion. A computer virus has struck their equipment and Seina's data has escaped into an external network. They are working feverishly to retrieve the missing data, with Airi assisting them from outside. Alas, when they finally recover the data, it has become corrupted beyond recognition. It seems that analysing and understanding Seina is made all the more difficult by his bad luck.

That night, back in his dorm, Seina tries without success to wash off the incriminating mark the security robots gave him. He comes out of the bathroom to find Kenneth and Rajau talking to Kiriko on the video phone, and with the evidence of his own transgression on display he only manages to make her even more angry with him!
