Episode 3 -  The Devil Princess of Jurai
  Jurai no oni hime
  Jurai no oni hime
First aired - 17th April 2002

While fleeing from the band of pirates they have unwittingly attracted, Seina and the crew of the Galaxy Police Transporter encounter the Mikagami, the spaceship of Princess Seto of Jurai.

Smarter than the average pirateOne of the pirate ships has dropped back from the fleet. Its captain, a dark-haired woman, has noticed that so many pirate ships have gathered in one place, and suspects that there may be forces beyond mere coincidence at work. From afar, she and her crew watch in astonishment as Mikagami unleashes its Triple Z attack, forcing all the other pirate ships to stop. The pirate captain suspects that whatever caused all the pirate ships to gather in one place resides aboard the Galaxy Police Transporter, and plans to find out what...

Some time later, Seto's armada has arrived and arrested all the pirates. An envoy has arrived on the bridge of the Galaxy Police Transporter. He offers assistance in repairing the damage caused by the pirates and invites the crew to speak with Seto. The captain sends Mitoto and Seina to the Mikagami, while he oversees the repairs.

Aboard the MikagamiAboard the Mikagami, Seina and Mitoto are led through a lush landscape of trees, fields and even distant mountains. Seina finds it hard to believe that this is the interior of a spaceship, but their guide explains the living quarters are not strictly inside the ship, but linked through subspace instead (Seina, naturally, does not understand). They are led to a waiting area and served tea, and Seina asks if he can call home (his last attempt in the previous episode was interrupted by the pirate attack). Alas, the line is busy, so he decides to explore the ship a little. Peering into a nearby lake, he loses his balance and topples in, and as he scrambles out he inadvertently squashes a small pig-like creature, incurring the wrath of its mother! While he is being chased by the furious creature, Mitoto finishes her tea and starts cleaning the waiting area!

Meanwhile, Seto discusses Seina with two of her aides. She remarks that it is normally forbidden for pure-bred Earthlings to join the Galaxy Police, but it is not unheard of, and his application has already been accepted by the Academy. She doubts that Seina will turn down this opportunity. The subject then turns to Amane Kaunaq, who gave Seina the application form in the first place. Seto has promised Amane's parents that she will help find a husband for her. However, Amane has a history of rejecting unsuitable men in a most violent manner, and Seto wonders if Amane has set her standards too high.

Soon, Seina and Mitoto are led to Seto's chamber. Seina is a little nervous - before he left, the captain warned him not to do anything to offend Seto, and he wonders how bad a person she really is to have earned the nickname "Devil Princess of Jurai". After Seto greets Seina, her two aides introduce themselves — naval commander Kanemitsu Hirata and intelligence officer Minaho Masaki (who, Seina realises, shares a surname with his friend Tenchi). Seto leads Seina away for a private discussion.

Tea with the Devil PrincessIn a secluded area outside her quarters, Seto and Seina discuss the pirate incident. Seina tells her that he has always suffered from bad luck, but Seto disagrees; she believes that it was his "talent" that allowed her to arrest almost every pirate in the region. It is, she says, just a matter of perspective, and his talent could be very useful as a Galaxy Police officer. Kanemitsu, however, is worried that Seina will be placed in danger, and suggests erasing his memory of the recent events and returning him to Earth as if nothing had happened. Seto invites Seina to choose, and he agrees to join the GP because he would be able to see and do things he would have no chance of doing on Earth.

Some time later, the repairs to the Galaxy Police Transporter are complete, and the ship is ready to depart. Seto bids Seina good luck, and the ship re-enters hyperspace, bound for the GP immigration office. The ship completes the hyperspace jump successfully, but suddenly an alarm sounds; they have encountered another pirate ship. It is the ship that evaded Mikagami's Triple Z attack. The captain contacts the Galaxy Police Transporter and requests a face-to-face meeting. When Cohen discovers that the captain is the infamous Ryoko Balouta, he and his colleagues are all to happy to welcome her aboard the ship. The captain protests, but Alan, Barry and Cohen are so keen to meet the most desired space pirate in the galaxy that they tie him up to keep him out of the way! Ryoko boards the transporter and Mitoto greets her and presents her with a bouquet of flowers. Mitoto seems to have met her before.

Meeting Ryoko BaloutaRyoko has come to ask about the incident with the pirates. Alan, Barry and Cohen tell her that Seina was responsible, since it was he who chose the hyperspace jump route. Ryoko is amazed that one man could have rounded up all those pirates single-handedly, and offers him the chance to join her crew as her partner. Seina politely declines, telling her that he has already promised to join the Galaxy Police. Ryoko accepts his decision, but warns him that they will be enemies from now on. Alan, Barry and Cohen take a commemorative photo of their meeting with the legendary Ryoko Balouta before she departs.

As Ryoko leaves aboard her own ship, the first officer asks her if Seina should be added to the space pirate surveillance list. Ryoko ponders this for a moment, gazing at Seina in her copy of the photograph, and decides to let Seina be for now.
