General Changes:
In the US TV version, the original opening has been replaced with a shorter sequence as detailed below. The end credits in the UK version use the final shot of the original opening (featuring the cast running back and forth in the distance while Ryo-Ohki dozes in the foreground) and the last 20 seconds of the original ending (showing Ryo-Ohki asleep as pictures of the cast float around her in bubbles). The music used is Ryo-Ohki's Theme, from the original OVA opening.

| The original 1:30 opening sequence for Tenchi in Tokyo features the song "Yume wa doko e itta" ("Where Did the Dream Go?"), sung by Ryoko's Japanese voice actress Ai Orikasa. There is no English-language version of the opening song. | ||||

| All Tenchi in Tokyo episodes broadcast on Cartoon Network in the UK use the same 30-second opening as the Tenchi Muyo and Tenchi Universe openings, with a different title card at the end. An original piece of music composed especially for Cartoon Network is used on this new opening. | ||||

| After the initial few episodes broadcast on Cartoon Network in the US, which reused the Tenchi Universe opening with a different title card, subsequent episodes of Tenchi in Tokyo feature a 30-second opening with shots of Absolution, the Toonami spaceship, a montage of shots and sound bites from the series, ending with a blue and grey title. After the first run, the intro changed to the same as Tenchi Universe, but with a Tenchi in Tokyo title card. | ||||

The break bumpers used on the Japanese broadcast and the US video/DVD releases have also been lost. These bumpers features pictures of the characters in panels in the background, with Ryo-Ohki leaping into or out of one of the panels. |
