General Changes:

In the US and UK TV versions, the original openings have been replaced with a shorter sequence as detailed below. The end credits have also been replaced with a 30-second extract from the opening sequence used on the first 7 OVAs, usually with the same music as the new opening sequence (although, for some episodes, the original Ryo-Ohki's Theme music was left intact).

The 1:35 opening sequence for OVAs 1-7 (the first series) used the instrumental track "Ryo-Ohki's Theme". A 30-second section of this opening was used on Cartoon Network's broadcast for the end credits of the OVAs, but with a different piece of music.
OVA Series 2 Opening OVA Series 2 Opening OVA Series 2 Opening OVA Series 2 Opening OVA Series 2 Opening
The original 1:25 opening sequence for OVA episodes 8-13 (the second series) featured the song "Boku wa motto PAIONIA" / "I am a Pioneer".

All OVA episodes (including the Mihoshi special) broadcast on Cartoon Network in the UK use a new 30-second opening featuring clips from the OVAs and first TV series inlaid within the four kanji that make up the Japanese title. An original piece of music composed especially for Cartoon Network is used on this new opening and on the end credits.
US TV Version Opening US TV Version Opening US TV Version Opening US TV Version Opening US TV Version Opening
The broadcasts of the OVA episodes on Cartoon Network in the US use a 30-second opening that features shots of Tom and the Absolution, the Toonami mascot and spaceship, followed by a montage of shots and sound bites from the series, ending with the shot of Ryoko, Ayeka and Tenchi on the roof taken from the original Tenchi Universe opening, and a blue title screen. After the first run, the title screen was changed to a grey and blue one. There have also been numerous minor variations in the opening, altering some shots (including newer footage of Tom and the Absolution).
OVA Series 1 Ending OVA Series 1 Ending OVA Series 1 Ending OVA Series 1 Ending OVA Series 1 Ending
The original 1:30 ending sequence for the first OVA series (episodes 1-7) features a crayon-style animation of Ryo-Ohki planting a carrot and looking after it through the seasons. The music is "Ren'ai no sainō" / "Talent for Love".
OVA Series 2 Ending OVA Series 2 Ending OVA Series 2 Ending OVA Series 2 Ending OVA Series 2 Ending
The 1:30 ending sequence used for the second OVA series (episodes 8-13) features an animation of Ryo-Ohki watching the sun set, then stars pass by until a carrot-shaped constellation appears. The music used is "Tsuki no Tragedy" / "Lonely Moon".

Most of the episodes have upwards of 3 minutes of footage (excluding the shortened opening and ending) removed to make the episodes fit into the 30-minute television time-slot.
