Kiyone is unique
in that she is the only lead character who did not feature in
the
original OVA series. Her first appearance in a full
episode was in Mihoshi's story in the OVA special "Galaxy
Police Mihoshi's Space Adventure", and evidently caused
enough of a stir to bring her back as a main character in the
TV series.
With her GP
partner Mihoshi, they are a genuine odd couple; a sensible side
to galactic policing that serves to balance out Mihoshi's manic
character.
After initially
being voiced by Sherry Lynn, the same person who provides Sasami
and Tsunami's English voices, Wendee Lee took over Kiyone's role
from the second movie onwards (though Sherry Lynn stayed on
to voice Sasami and others).
