Magical
Project S Characters (1)
note: No English dub of Magical Project S has been made, so only Japanese
voice artists are listed for characters from this series.
 |
Ginji Kawai

Ginji, Sasami's charismatic and slightly crackpot
father, is a man of many talents. Although he seems to have no regular
job,
he has a colourful employment history, from SWAT team member to NASA
astronaut. He is always ready to help out his beloved daughter or
Pretty Sammy when the need arises (and like everyone else, he does
not know they are the same person!). |
|
| Voice:
Kazuki Yao |
 |
Honoka Kawai

Sasami's ever-loving mother Honoka runs a CD store
in Umi no Hoshi town. She and Ginji are a perfect (if slightly eccentric)
couple, still very much in love with each other after more than ten
years of marriage. Honoka greatly admires the heroic Pretty Sammy,
even placing her faith in her to save the family business when sales
are down! |
|
| Voice:
Rie Iwatsubi |
 |
Washu Fitzgerald
Kobayashi

Washu Fitzgerald Kobayashi, a Japanese-American prodigy
who graduated from MIT at the age of ten, becomes the science teacher
at Sasami's school after hearing news of the battling magical girls.
Her research into magic leads her straight to Sasami, and she seems
to be the only Earthling who knows the true identity of Pretty Sammy.
Not content with badgering Sasami at school, she even moves into the
house next door to keep a watch on her at home! |
|
| Voice:
Yuko Kobayashi |
 |
Mihoshi Mizutani

Homeroom teacher of class 4-3 at Umi no Hoshi Elementary,
Mihoshi Mizutani is as unlikely a specimen of an educator as you are
likely to meet. She manages to go through both her life and her job
with the same blissfully clueless attitude. Her best friend (although
a friendship which is hardly reciprocated) is fellow teacher Kiyone
Amayuri, whom she has been with since junior high. |
|
| Voice:
Yuko Mizutani |
 |
Kiyone
Amayuri

Kiyone, the teacher of class 4-2 in the room next to
Sasami's class, is quite the opposite of her colleague Mihoshi. Her
students are an exceptionally quiet and scholarly bunch, and she herself
takes everything rather seriously. Alas, her chances of peaceful existence
working next door to Mihoshi and her class are slim indeed...
|
|
| Voice:
Yuri Amano |
 |
Principal
Miura

Miura, the principal of Umi no Hoshi Elementary, is
a rather odd fellow, and certainly not your average principal. Although
somewhat forgetful and prone to falling asleep suddenly, he is a good
deal cannier than his crusty appearance and unusually laid-back attitude
belies. |
|
| Voice:
Ryûnosuke Ôbayashi |
 |
Hiroto Majima

One of Sasami's classmates, Hiroto is the sports star
of class 4-3. He is often found playing soccer or dodge ball, and
is an ace at gymnastics. He and Misao have something of a mutual attraction
going on, though they are both too bashful to admit it. Alas, he often
finds himself the unwilling object of Konoha's overblown affections. |
|
| Voice:
Taiki Matsuno |
 |
Kenji Oyamada

Another of Sasami's classmates is Kenji. He is usually
found hanging out or playing sports with Hiroto. He also has a keen
interest in photography, and a raging crush on the teacher next door,
Miss Kiyone! |
|
| Voice:
Daisuke Ishikawa |
 |
Konoha Haida
/ Funky Connie

Konoha is the loudmouthed smart-aleck of class 4-3,
always the first with a jibe or put-down. She is obsessed with Hiroto,
forever thrusting her affections on the poor boy. In episode 11, Konoha
acquires Pretty Sammy's magical baton, which allows her to transform
into magical girl Funky Connie. But rather than using her powers for
good, Konoha decides to use them to capture the heart of Hiroto instead! |
|
| Voice:
Tomoko Kawakami |
 |
Eimi Date
/ Love Me Eimi

Student president of class 4-3, Eimi is forever bossing
her classmates around and quoting school rules at them. She refuses
to stand for anything frivolous or improper in or outside of school.
However, in episode 22 she is forced to become the magical girl Love
Me Eimi at the will of Romio. She is utterly mortified when, after
being freed from Romio's control, she discovers that not only has
she been wearing an outrageous magical girl outfit, but also doesn't
know how to change back again! |
|
| Voice:
Hisoka Moriya |
 |
Romio

While Ramia goes all-out to fight Tsunami's ascension
to the throne throughout her trial, Romio, the third and practically
forgotten candidate for the crown of Juraihelm takes a more devious
approach. Biding her time, she waits for Tsunami's coronation and
upsets the balance of good and evil
by creating a wicked magical servant of her own to cause chaos on
Earth. She follows this up by using her NT (New Technology) system
to suck up all the magic energy on Juraihelm, rendering the population
helpless. |
|
| Voice:
Yumi Takada |
 |
Overly Splendid
Oryo

Oryo (often referred to as "Overly Splendid Oryo")
is Tsunami's lifelong guard and servant. When Romio and Love Me Eimi
threaten to throw a spanner in the works of Tsunami's ascension to
the throne, Oryo offers to step in and provide Pretty Sammy with some
much-needed assistance. As a royal guard, she is skilled at both magic
and hand-to-hand combat, and it is this, along with her cool demeanour,
which has earned her that "overly splendid" moniker. |
|
| Voice:
Ai Orikasa |
 |
Kotoe Amano

Misao's mother Kotoe seems like a somewhat uncaring
parent. As a high-flying career woman she often works late, leaving
Misao at home alone. However, she is not as heartless as she seems;
she works hard to provide for her daughter, and she does care deeply
for her. |
|
| Voice:
Miki Itô |
 |
Shigeki Amano

Misao's absent father is a professional concert pianist,
and his career takes him to venues around the world. As a result,
he is rarely able to come home and see his family. Nevertheless, he
is Misao's role model; she hopes to become a professional pianist
as well. |
|
| Voice:
Takehiro Murozono |
 |
Peter (Heita
Hirata) (Episode 9)

Heita Hirata, better known by his nickname Peter, is
a master Love-love Monster trainer who lives on a remote tropical
island. He looks after the cast-off Love-love Monsters created by
Pixy Misa and trains them to be faster and stronger. Despite helping
Misa he is not really a bad guy. He cares only about the Monsters
and seeks to provide them with a peaceful place to live. |
|
| Voice:
Mizue Ôtsuka |
 |
Shinobi Hagakure
(Episode 10)

While travelling around the country on their summer
holiday, Sasami and her father meet the Hagakure family, a proud clan
of ninjas who live, strangely enough, in a Wild West-themed tourist
village. Shinobi is Genjuro's dedicated but clumsy granddaughter,
who fights with her grandfather against the tyrannical Onijigoku family
who want to drive them out of the village. |
|
| Voice:
Akemi Okamura |
 |
Genjuro Hagakure
(Episode 10)

Head of the Hagakure clan, the bedridden Genjuro does
all in his power to help defend his family from his mortal enemy,
Katsuhito Onijigoku, and his cronies. His home is the only remaining
Japanese-style house in the tourist village — the
village started out as a ninja-themed resort until Onijigoku tried
to take over. |
|
| Voice:
Takeshi Aono |
 |
Binpachi Hagakure
(Episode 10)

The grandson of Genjuro Hagakure, Binpachi became the
shame of the family after defecting to Onijigoku's cowboy gang, claiming
that cowboys are far cooler than ninjas. However, he finally has to
revert to using his old ninja skills when one of Pixy Misa's Love-love
Monsters runs amok in the village. |
|
| Voice:
Kunihiko Yasui |
 |
Nobuyuki Onijigoku
(Episode 10)

Head of the family that has for years sought to oust
the Hagakure clan from the tourist village, Nobuyuki is a bully through
and through. He and his sidekick Gumi deliver Genjuro an ultimatum
to leave the village once and for all, but Ginji Kawai decides to
step in and settle the matter with a proper wild west-style duel. |
|
| Voice:
Takeshi Aono |
 |
Tenchi
Masaki (Episode 12)

Tenchi Masaki is the young assistant director of the
sentai TV show "Blue Sky Cool Rangers". Sasami develops
a crush on him soon after meeting him, and she tries to help him when
he gets the chance to direct an episode of Cool Rangers, going as
far as transforming into Pretty Sammy to take over the role of the
guest actress when she walks out. However, Tenchi also turns out to
be her first heartbreak when she finds out he lives with his girlfriend
Keiko, a girl who works at the TV studio. |
|
| Voice:
Masami Kikuchi |
 |
Ando Toyokawa
(Episode 13)

When Kiyone's interfering mother sets up her daughter
with a matchmaking meeting, the bachelor involved is Ando Toyokawa.
A rich, charming and educated man, he instantly ensnares Kiyone's
affections, but Pixy Misa interrupts their date and tries to expose
him as a love-rat by summoning dozens of jilted brides and a relationship-destroying
Love-love Monster! |

When Ramia
grows tired of Pixy Misa's failed attempts to destroy Pretty Sammy,
she organises an offensive of her own, collecting housewives from
all over Umi no Hoshi town and transforming them into her magical
married women squad, Team Sexy Mrs.
Miyuki
is Misao's neighbour, leader of the squad and also known as Mrs
One. She has a husband named Satoshi and a baby named Saki.
She
specialises in cookery-related attacks.
Kaori is a confident and sexy career woman who specialises
in attacks relating to her attractiveness; her "Mrs Kiss"
attack, for example. Also known as Mrs Zwei (German for "two").
Yumi is a young newlywed who is still in college. Her attacks
are often sport-related — tossing Sammy into a basketball hoop,
for example. In the Team she is known as Mrs Third.
Chihiro is a karaoke maniac who specialises in singing attacks.
She also appeared in the Pretty Sammy OVA series as Sasami's mother.
Also known as Mrs Suh (Chinese for "four").
Yukie is a rambunctious lady with a penchant for cooking
very large meals. Also known as Mrs Cinque (French for "five").
Chisato is the youngest member of the group, a girl who
has been entered into an arranged marriage. As a child, her attacks
are of a playful variety — using giant cat's cradle strings
to tie up army helicopters, for example. She is also known as Mrs
Roku
(Japanese for "six").
